About

WIRE originally stood for ‘Women’s Information and Referral Exchange Inc’. We have extended our service to respond to the needs of non-binary and gender-diverse people as well. We are the only Victoria-wide free generalist information, support and referral service run by women and gender diverse people, for women and gender diverse people.

WIRE’s new logo

Over the past few months, we have collaborated with studio Morellon to create a new brand that honours WIRE’s history while introducing a fresh look. While we may have a new look, our commitment to supporting and providing information to women and gender-diverse people remains unchanged.

As we begin to roll out this branding update across our channels and marketing materials, you might notice both our old and new branding for a little while. Please bear with us during this transition period. It’s still us, just with a new look!

Acknowledgement of Country

WIRE acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the traditional – and only – custodians of country across Australia. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to maintain their wisdom and rich culture—the oldest continuous culture on the planet— having survived genocide, dispossession and colonisation. We recognise their continued connection to land, waters and culture and pay our respects to their Elders past and present. Sovereignty has never been ceded. This land always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

WIRE is dedicated to integrating diversity, inclusion, and equity into every aspect of our organisation, aiming to enhance the well-being of both our clients and staff. We are steadfast in our commitment to actively identify and eliminate any instances of discrimination in the services we provide.
